RE: Personal Effects Insurance

This thread scares me. We have Progressive and they told me that everything that originaly came with the RV was covered and the personal effects part covered everything we put in it. Just this year I upped the personal stuff limit because we put a new TV in. The policy is really affordable which is what scares me. but all I have read on this forum about how great Progressive is gives me comfort, but now I am confused - again! here I go worrying about things that will probably never happen. Oh, and is it true that the price you pay is based on your credit score?

RE: Slideout locking bars (?)

I am also confused about those bars. We used them for a while but then we looked at them and thought "what is really holding them or supporting them" they are placed against the molding and the wall. Wouldn't the molding just break off if the slideout started moving? We don't use ours anymore but I wonder if we should? Has anybody had problems with their slideout that bars would have prevented? Has anybody had their slideout just slide out while driving?
Thanks,
Kathy

RE: Pomona RVIA Show...

We went on Thurs. and boy was it HOT!!! All the motorhomes were air conditioned and I did not want to get out of them. The tent was stifling hot and I felt so sorry for the vendors that had to stay in that sauna all day. And yes, the patrons were very out numbered by the sales people. Overall though I had a good time and everyone was very nice. What was sobering though was the prices. I could buy a new motorhome the same as what I have for the same or less than what we paid two years ago. Of course that brings up the subprime debacle that is going on. Even though we are "upside down" I love what I have and am happily paying for what I bought. I am not expecting a government to pay the difference or default on a promise I made when I signed on the dotted line.

RE: How will current RV market affect RV shows?

You guys are really bumming me out! I have taken the day off to go to the Pomona RV show and I am really looking forward to seeing the new coaches. I will also be looking for the awesome toilet chemical that I got last year. OK I'm a dork, I love RV's.

RE: Place to park RV on CA HWY 1

Boy, I hope you have better luck than us! We left arond 2:30 on a fri. for a 45 min. drive to the Ventura coast and everything was FULL! We drove into every campground and up and down the coast and nothing. Back home we talked to some friends and they told us the only way to camp at the beach was to take the rig up thurs. or wed. and leave it (paid) and come back to it on the weekend. This was last year in Sept. when they take no reservations and its all first come first serve. We have been to afraid to try again this year though I would love to camp at the beach.

RE: Launching a boat with a class C

Wow! we were there, camping at Mission Bay at De Anza cove but of course we missed it. We launch our boat (21' IO) with our MH and have no problem. We have been doing this for 15 years and have never had a problem (OK now I have just jinxed us)it is the same as backing the boat in with anything else, if you can do it with a truck you can do it with your MH.

rum slushy

Help! I used a recipe that I got from here last summer and I want to do it again but I can't find it anywhere. It had rum, lemonade orange juice and pinapple juice that you froze and then filled a glass half with the frozen mix and the rest with sprite. Does anybody have it?
thanks

RE: Insurance

Speaking of progressive, we have them for our rig and it seems to good to be true! I keep thinking I have made a mistake and am not adequately covered. What coverage's and amounts do I need?

RE: That pleasurable feeling you get

I thought I was the only crazy one who loved the smell of my MH. I was really concerned about that when we bought the new one. I had a hard time parting with the old one because of that and worried that the new one wouldn't have that "feeling" but happy to say the new one has the "it" feeling

RE: Baby in the RV

Hi and congrats on the new C. We traveled all over the U.S. with four kids, two being in car seats, and yes we put the two car seats on the couch. The boys loved it, they could see out the window and have their toys next the them in a basket (which ended up on the floor)As for sleeping we once camped next to people with 7 month old twins and they hung a pack and play from the ceiling over the dinette with the other pack and play hanging over the couch, but we just put the boys on the couch one facing one way and the other facing the other way with a bed rail to keep them in. When they got a bit older we put one on the couch and our driver/passenger seats swivled facing each other and we made a comfy bed for the other one. The problems emerged when they got big and ornery and didn't like sleeping in a tent. Now we sneak away and don't tell them we're going RVing.

RE: How did you get starting in RVing?

I got into RVing when in 87 my DH spent every cent we had on a MH that was in a salvage yard, it was a theft and had been stripped of everything, but it was new (only 1200 miles). He drove it home with his desk chair and spent the next year rebuilding it while I complained about the stupid thing everytime he worked on it. Went to the beach with four kids (6 months, 2yrs,6yrs,7yrs)for the first trip and LOVED IT!!! From that moment on everytime we left for a trip I would apologize to DH about all the B@#$#$*# I did. I love my MH!

Well all I did was acompany DH to Camping World to pick up a hot water temperature regulator (water was waaaay to hot)and admired the scaffolding he put over the cab so he could wax the cabover and looked at the side he buffed out (we put some scratches on it in Death Valley last week)Boy, DH needs to go camping!

RE: Mac or PC?

Hi everyone, again thank you all for the great advice. I am typing this on the new macpro and it is awesome. This is the first mac I have ever used and so far it is easy, I just configured it for the web. The touchpad is just like an Iphone, you can tweak whatever you're looking at any which way you want. Anyway I think Jacob (the boy) will be very pleased with his new tool. And who knows, maybe there is a mac in my future.
Thanks Again,
Kathy

RE: Mac or PC?

Thank you, thank you everyone, especially Y-Guy for the link right to the school that he is going too! (how come I couldn't find that)Anyway we just returned from the store with a new macbook pro. He is going to pay for half so we are good and he is ecstatic. Of course with out of state tuition I don't know how we are going to keep RVing. We may just have to rv right in the back yard where it is parked, thats OK because as long as I am in the rv I am happy.
Thanks Again
Kathy (and the boy too)

He wants a Macbook Pro but we are wondering if that is what they use in that field or would he be better off with a cheaper PC?

RE: SENECA MIRROR

We had that same problem. My DH complained so he fabricated a new part to extend the mirror out from the body and now it is 100% better. You can actually see all along the side of the rig and the road behind, exactly like the left mirror.
